ABOUT CHERRY LEDGE FARM

January 2022 Celebrating 30 Years in Professional Business

Cherry Ledge Farm is independently owned by Karen Swanberg, nestled in the beautiful Agricultural town of Woodstock, in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut.  Karen started riding at just months old sitting in front of her Mom, and by 2 years old she had her first pony. In 1969, at the age of 6, she attended her first show and has never stopped since. That was the year she got her first Morgan Horse...her passion was found and the love story continues.

Karen began teaching at 16 years old and Cherry Ledge Farm later became a reality in January of 1992.  She has dedicated her entire life to helping horses and their owners have the best level of communication possible and shares her knowledge with those that are interested in developing that bond.

"In 2014, I started to think about how many people and horses I have been blessed to work with and at that point I figure I have worked with over 1,200 students and over 500 horses, ponies and drafts of all breeds and disciplines. Since an accident in 2008, I no longer do under saddle training, but I still offer groundwork and driving training and continually strive to teach the next generations the skills to carry on my work."

In 2019, the addition of "Minis Helping Many" became the next step at CLF.  It is an Emotional Pet Therapy Program for Children facing challenges, Elderly, Veterans and those living with grief, anxiety, depression, PTSD and dementia.  This is done hands-on with Miniature Horses and even the Morgan Horses help out.  It is amazing to witness how horses can ease Emotional pain and bring about peaceful changes in people's lives.

If you or someone you know loves horses and is eager to learn about them or spend time with them, make sure to come visit Cherry Ledge Farm.

Open by Appointment... so lessons, training and Pet Therapy are not disturbed.
